The Bank of East Asia (BEA), founded in 1918, is the third-largest bank in Hong Kong in terms of asset volume, and the largest independent bank.

It is the second-largest foreign banking chain in China by number of branches. BEA offers commercial, personal, corporate, and investment banking to customers in Hong Kong and China. It also serves the Chinese community abroad through its presence in Southeast Asia, North America, and the United Kingdom. BEA has traded on the Hong Kong stock exchange since 1930 and forms part of the Hang Seng index.

Overseas, BEA has established a presence in Southeast Asia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Worldwide, including Hong Kong and the rest of Greater China, BEA operates more than 240 branches and employs over 13,000 people.

Since 2010, the ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation, the Bank of East Asia Charitable Foundation and the Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command have been working together on a palliative care programme for terminally-ill patients in Hong Kong.
